CHAPTER 7: EFFECTS AND TRANSITIONS ■
Titles
Avid’s Title tool is the same in both Free DV and Xpress Pro. If you’ve worked with
any kind of text editing or desktop publishing applications, you’ll find the Title tool to
be a very simple but handy tool.
To access the Title tool, choose Clip
> New Title (see Figure 7.5). Xpress Pro
users can map the Title tool to their keyboard, but unless you create lots of titles, this
might not be useful.
Object and Alignment Menus
When the Title tool appears on your desktop, note that two additional menus appear
above. These two menus, Object and Alignment, allow you to manipulate objects in
the tool and align them. They might be familiar to you from other applications that
you use.
The Object menu allows you to take individual objects that you create in the tool and
prioritize them so that one object is on top of another. The Object Menu also allows
