Basic Editing
Let’s take a look at the basic editing functions of
Free DV and Xpress Pro. We’ll start by exploring
the Avid graphical user interface (GUI), including
the preset toolset that is stored on your system
for each type of editing. We’ll take a complete
tour of the interface, examining the Project win-
dow, the Source and Record windows, the bins
and their various display methods, and the Time-
line. And you will learn how to load clips, mark
them, navigate comfortably through media to
find edit points, make edits, and—perhaps most
importantly—how to change those edits.
