Batch Reimporting Graphics (Xpress Pro)

When you import graphic files, it is a good idea to store them in a place on your sys-

tem hard drive so that you can access them again, especially in the event of media era-

sure. Should you inadvertently lose the media from your imports, Xpress Pro will

remember where the import came from. If it came from your hard drive, Xpress Pro

can reimport the graphics more easily than if you imported it from a CD or network

location that you would have to find again.

Xpress Pro can also be used when editing an offline version of a program in

which you want to batch digitize all the clips and graphics in a higher resolution. To

batch import your graphics, first select the sequence that contains the graphics to be

imported. Then select Bin

> Batch Import. The Batch Import dialog box appears (see

Figure 6.11).

At the top of the Batch Import menu is a list of graphic files that were imported

for the sequence that you selected. You can select or deselect each individual file. Next,

choose your resolution and clips to be imported. You’ll also need to choose a drive for

the import. At the bottom of the menu are two key options. The Use Source Compres-

sion For OMFI option uses the same compression applied on an original OMFI file

when importing OMF files. This allows you to import at a native resolution and do the

import more quickly than normal. For graphic files, leave this deselected. The second

option, Override Clip Settings With Current Settings, allows you to import files and

change their settings to the current settings that you have selected. For example, if your
