Fast Menu The Fast menu contains additional functions, as we described before. The
Fast menu below the monitors offers the same as the Fast menu on the button bar
located at the top of the Timeline. Some of these functions do not work with Free DV.
Table 3.2 is a list of those functions.
Table 3.2 Fast Menu Button Icons
Icon Action
Quick Transition allows you to perform certain types of transitions,such as a dis-
solve or fade,without entering Effects mode.
Render Effects allows you to render a single effect where the blue position indi-
cator is located.
Fade Effect will fade the current effect where the blue position indicator is located.
Remove Effect will remove the effect where the blue position indicator is located.
Rewind allows you to step backward in the Timeline to the first frame of the pre-
vious edit.When you hold down the Alt/Opt key and click this button,it will
move backward to the previous locator.
Fast Forward works like Rewind.When you click it,it will move to the first frame
of the next edit in the Timeline.Holding down the Alt/Opt key while clicking it
will move forward to the next locator.
Clear marks will remove the marks in whichever monitor (Source or Record) has
been made active at that time.
Trim Mode activates Trim mode.
Clipboard pastes whatever is in your Clipboard to the Source monitor.You can
press Ctrl + C/Cmd + C to copy clips or marked clips to the Clipboard.
Match Frame finds the source of wherever you are parked on the Timeline.It finds
the source and matches the exact frame where the blue position locator currently
resides.You can match the audio or video source,depending on what is selected
using the Track Panel selectors.
You can create a subclip of a clip by marking a section of a clip and clicking the
Create Subclip button.The subclip will appear in the bin with the suffix .sub,
which indicates that it is a subclip.
